Environmental Health Australia (SA) Inc State Conference 2019

LG Leader December 2019

KelledyJones were proud to sponsor the Environmental Health Australia National Conference held in South Australia at the National Wine Centre on 6-8 November 2019.

The conference program covered a wide range of public health topics from emergency management, clandestine drug laboratories, immunisation and climate change impacts. Cimon Burke presented an interesting case study relating to the first appeal against a compliance notice issued under the South Australian Public Health Act 2011 to address wastewater management. The international speakers in particular, inspired with their messages and reminded us of the important work that environmental health officers do in improving public health within our communities.

The conference dinner provided attendees with a valuable networking opportunity with local, interstate and international public health professionals, including South Australia’s recently appointed Chief Public Health Officer, Dr Nicola Spurrier.  The KelledyJones Lawyers Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Environmental Health Profession was awarded at the dinner to Rebecca Burton (pictured) of the Berri Barmera Council for her continued efforts over many years to provide opportunities for and to mentor Environmental Health Officers, especially in regional areas.

We congratulate Environmental Health Australia (SA) Inc on delivering a fantastic and informative conference.
