Property Location Browser 3.0 — New and improved!

28 September 2017

On 25 September 2017, a new version of Property Location Browser (PLB) was released by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.

For those who are not familiar, PLB is free, online, map-based application that provides real-time information about land in South Australia.

DPTI have, with input from a number of agencies, completely revamped the user interface and included a number of additional features that will greatly assist councils in obtaining reliable property information.

Some of the new and updated features include:

  • A simple right click, anywhere on the map pulls up the “Info” tab that allows the user to obtain information such as:
    • Certificate of Title information;
    • Development Plan Zoning and Map Index;
    • Bushfire Protection Area and risk level (new);
    • River Murray Protection Area and info (new);
    • Earthquake Hazard Zone info (new); and
    • Energy Efficiency Criteria (new).
  • New “Layers” allow users to input overlays such as:
    • Development Plan Zoning (which now overlays all applicable zones in colour);
    • Character Preservation Districts (including Townships and Rural Living Areas);
    • Land Use areas (colour coded) showing generalised land uses (residential, commercial, vacant, utilities, public institutions etc);
    • Bushfire Protection Area (depicting General, Medium and High Risk areas);
    • River Murray Protection Area;
    • Residential Code/Building Code; and
    • Environment and Food Production areas.
  • New Land Division Application overlays, which show (colour coded) land division applications in their various stages including proposed deposits, lodged deposits, lapsed deposits, refused deposits and withdrawn deposits.
  • Easy to identify Heritage Areas (State, Local and Contributory) including indicative footprints.
  • Users can obtain a “Map Report” for multiple pieces of land by dragging a box (or other shape) over the map, detailing property information such as Plan Parcels, Development Plan information and Valuation numbers.
  • You can also create a “Buffer” of any distance around a piece of land (or multiple pieces of land) which can be useful for determining things such noise boundaries in planning matters.
  • Being able to measure distances and areas easily by drawing lines and shapes on the map.

We encourage all those who have not already, to get online, familiarise yourself with the new PLB interface and play with some of the exciting new tools on offer.

The new and improved features will be an invaluable asset to all council areas, but particularly those in planning, property and enforcement roles.
