Meeting Procedures Training

Now that members are mid-way through the current term, we have received a number of enquiries to facilitate more intensive meeting procedure training for members, to build on that which the members have already been exposed to as part of their mandatory training requirements.

This training can take the form of a ‘round chamber’ discussion, as well as a ‘mock meeting’ where members have the opportunity to move, second, debate and vote on a motion, while learning the nuances of local government meeting procedures that apply to formal Council and Committee meetings. The skills canvassed during these sessions include amendments and variations to motions, the right to speak, and the role of personal explanations, questions (both with and without notice) and the role of the Chair (to name a few).

If your council is interested in facilitating such a session, please contact us at info@kelledyjones.com.au.
